The entire project was build with the idea in mind that you can use it with a GPRS/2G internet connection.

💾 Cache everything save images ones and apply (Meme)text to it later. The text itself is just a couple bytes

📝 Add text to layouts Instead of loading screenshots we extract the text from posts and add the contents on predefined layouts

🚿 Text based content Quizzes, shower thoughts and random facts can all be displayed with very little data usage but can still bright up your day

🛰️ Fewer requests Most websites do hundreds of requests in a single session. We keep it simple. No tracking or unwanted background updates

📎 Keep everything native & small The entire codebase is kept native & lightweight

📶 We categorize Data Usage in three categories:
1. GPRS (kilobytes) Only load lightweight content
2. 3G (kilo-megabytes) Gifs and external images use more data
3. Wi-Fi (mega-gigabyte) A good connection is recommended

🤏 Data Lightweight: Small size = easier to download even with a bad internet connection. It's also cheaper if you have to pay for your data usage.

🦮 For blind people: Since we already have everything in text it's easy to just read out all the content to the user. Visit /audio to hear more about it.

🔗 Decentralized: We have parts of our database in IPFS Nodes, to start a Peer 2 Peer network for meme content. With IPFS you can download content from a decentralized network without relying on our database/servers. Check out /IPFS

📵 Offline mode: No internet? No problem! We got your back even when you are on the North Pole. With the MemeStash you will never be memeless again!

🌐 International: We translate content to make everybody's life memeingful. You want to help to spread Memes all over the world? Check out /translate to help the community.

📶 Sometimes your phone/pc shows it is connected and therefore the "offline functionality" will not kick in.

✈️ In these cases you should turn your internet completely off/turn on flight mode and reload this page.

🗺️ We are currently collecting content in other languages, if you want to help us with that head over to /translate or Upload content in other languages (☰ -> Create -> + More -> Select a language).

📈 There is also the "Stonks" kind of translation feature provided by your browser: We know the result is rather silly than accurate but everything will be translated.

We are aware that emojis have a bad reputation on many image boards but in our special case where we try to provide content to regions with slow internet Emojis are hundreds of preinstalled images/icons people can use without downloading them which makes them valuable for us.

🚨 Since we save everything inside your browser problems can occur when we publish updates because the data structures saved on your browser do not match the one our servers expect.
